GhostScript Resolution of postscript file

I require some assistance with ghostscript.

Regardless what I have tried, the output from the ghostscript virtual printer has resolution 720dpi. Does anybody know how to increase that? I have tried changing the “print quality” in the advanced options of the preferences but that had no affect.

Also, are there any active user forums for ghostscript?

Hi,

I have purchase PDF Architect 5 2 days ago and I am trying to complete a form by putting a tick on the PDF for the check boxes and also to insert my signature to sign the form. Every time I click edit, it takes me to a an activate page and then opens up a browser for me to purchase the feature. When I purchase PDF Architect 5, I received the activation code and each time I put it in, it says its validated. However every time I try to edit or convert the PDF, it requests for me to buy the product.

Could you advise?

Am I activating PDF Architect 5 incorrectly?

PDFCreator 1.4.3 Event Warning: PDFCreator must be reinstalled after you upgrade Windows

@eor wrote:

We have been using PDFCreator 1.4.3 in our custom written application since January 2016 and cannot upgrade to a higher version because the code uses the COM Interface only available in 1.4.3.

After the last Windows Patch installation in December 2017 the PDFCreator application has been creating the following Event Warnings for every PDF that has been created: “The Application (PDFCReator) has the following problem: To function properly, PDFCreator must be reinstalled after you upgrade Windows.”

Is there a way to turn off the Event Warnings? Why are the Event Warnings appearing only now? It would be a pain, if we would always have to reinstall PDFCreator after each Windows patch…

Additionally it is creating .TMP files unter C:\Windows\Temp, which have to be deleted manually?

Thanks for any help.

Save Filename truncation

@jdshammer wrote:

System: Windows 10
Version PDFCreator Free v3.1.0 Build 10222

When printing to PDFCreator and saving a Filename with a “.” in the filename, the filename truncates after the “.” and adds pdf filename extension.

My naming convention is as follows yyyyddmm-lastname.firstname-description.pdf. After Save is pressed, the filename will truncate to yyyyddmm-lastname.pdf. The portion after the dot, “firstname-description” is removed.

This is a problem, since the full filename is not being saved after the dot character. This was not a problem in previous versions.

How open just printed PDF file with another pdf viewer (not PDF Architect)?

@pstein wrote:

I installed the latest PDFcreator v3.1.1 on 64bit Win 7 (over existing old v3.1.0)

During installation I disabled installation of PDF architect.
I simply want the pdf printer part…

After restart of Firefox I printed as sample the Google Landing page.
The actual printing and creation of pdf file works.

However I enabled in PDFcreator settings the option

Profiles—>Save—>Open file after saving

The checkbox below left of “Use PDF Architect for PDF files” is empty since I want to use another pdf viewer.

Much to my surprise after printing this external pdf viewer (e.g. pdfxchange viewer or Foxit) is NOT called.
Instead PDFcreator tells me seomthing like “Cannot open pdf file since no prgm is associated with it”.

That’s wrong!

If I double click on a *.pdf file in WinExplorer then this Viewer IS called and the clicked PDF file is SHOWN.

So this is a bug in PDFcreator. It seems to me that the PDFcreator is not tested with other viewers rather than PDF architect.

Can someone confirm this?

Is there a workaround for this bug?

Again: VBA Error 429 on CreateObject("PDFCreator.JobQueue")

@StefanM64 wrote:

Hi,

found many references to this, but none that really provided a correct answer.

I’m using PDFCreator 2.5.2 (due to customer restrictions I can’t use a newer version).
PDFCreator is installed on German Windows 7 64Bit, I’m trying to run the sample VBA macro testPage2PDF in file Testpage2PDF.docm located in install directory under "…\COM Scripts\Word - VBA. I’m using Word 2010 32Bit.

I get the error 429 on the line with CreateObject( ):

Sub testPage2PDF()
Dim fullPath
Dim PDFCreatorQueue As Queue
Dim pJob As printJob

Set PDFCreatorQueue = CreateObject("PDFCreator.JobQueue")

PDFCreator seems to be coprrectly installed. I can create a PDF test page using dialog in PDFCreator.exe. I also enabled tracing using the Debug options by PDFCreator. But log file is empty as the object cannot even be created, so there is nothing to trace.

What I don’t quite understand ist when checking the registry (using cmd.exe running as Administrator):
if I use regedt32.exe from C:\Windows\system32 (note that this is the 64Bit registry) I find
ProgID “PDFCreator.JobQueue” under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{66A9CAB1-404A-4918-8DE2-29C26B9B271E}

But when I use regedt32 from C:\Windows\SysWoW64 (note that this is the 32Bit registry) I don’t find any ProgID’s registed for PDFCreator.

Maybe this is my problem as PDFCreator seems to be a 64Bit application a thus is registered in 64Bit registry. But Word 2010 is 32bit and cannot resolve ProgID given in CreateObject.

I can’t imagine that the creator’s of PDFCreator are not aware of this problem and that I’m still doing something wrong…

Any help is higly apreciated.
Stefan

Hallo,

  2. The pay-version has a much too expensive annual fee.

Also, offer a model that is free forever, incl. updates.

Thanks for ruining my favorite PDF creator software.

GhostScript Error and Setup Helper Crash

@cihtog wrote:

A few days ago pdf Creator stopped working. I would get to printer selection dialog, and the printer output (where it counts pages really fast), but no pdf Creator.

When trying to troubleshoot, it would not print any test pages, and result in an internal ghost script error, after choosing a file name and location.

I tried rolling back to older version, to no avail - same issues.

At some point, I started getting “Setup Helper.exe” crash notifications from Windows.

We recently updated our PDF Creator (Free) to version 3.1.1, and now we can no longer print other pages than All Pages from a PDF; if we do (for example, try printing pages 1-2 from a PDF with 9 pages), we get an error “Error while processing the document. (26999)”:
PDFCreator_error_26999

This worked fine in 3.0.2, which we previously used.

Is this just us, or are others having the same problems?

PDFCreator 3.1.0: PDFCreator.ComWrapper : Freeze when executing a second time

$

@BartC wrote:

Hi,

I’m using the PDFCreator.ComWrapper.dll version 3.1.0.10222.
I use Visual Studio 2017 and the code is C#.

Sometimes PDFCreator freezes when I convert a Word document to pdf.
I created a testproject for reproduction. The problem occurs when I use a backgroundworker to convert word documents to pdf’s and I restart the backgroundworker.

The testproject contains a form with

  • a richtextbox (richTextBox1) for info
  • 2 textboxes (textWordBackgroundDocument and textWordBaseDocument) for the fullnames of the word document to be converted
  • a button (button1)

Code should be put here, but I get an error that new members ain’t allowed to add links and uploading a txt file is also not allowed. It’s kinda essential of course :slight_smile: So I’ll describe what I do. I have a method creating 4 times a PDF based on a word document converted to a PDF with a background of another word document which is converted to a PDF. I do this within a backgroundworker.
I can create this “backgrounded” (stamped) PDF as much as I like within the backgroundworker (I did it 100 times and it was ok).
The problem occurs when I set a timer to 1 minute after the 4 “backgrounded” PDFs are create and redo it. Then the background PDF is created, but the “backgrounded” PDF gets stuck. If I don’t wait with a timer, but push the button manually when it’s done it works good as well, unless I wait some time. Very strange :frowning:

The only thing that you need to do is install PDFCreator 3.1, add a reference in the project to the PDFCreator.ComWrapper.dll (located in the Program Files - PDFCreator folder), run the program.
Fill in the full filenames of the word document containing the background and the normal word document (which needs to be converted to pdf with the other word document as background).

The output (in the richedit) when it freeze is:
12:14:45:1124: Start
12:14:45:1264: Start … 0%
12:14:45:1264: Create background 1 … 0%
12:14:51:7663: Create stamped PDF 1 … 12%
12:14:55:9472: Create background 2 … 25%
12:14:59:7012: Create stamped PDF 2 … 37%
12:15:03:1415: Create background 3 … 50%
12:15:06:6098: Create stamped PDF 3 … 62%
12:15:10:0645: Create background 4 … 75%
12:15:13:7053: Create stamped PDF 4 … 87%
12:15:17:1166: Done. … 100%
Success
Stop: 12:15:17:1201
12:15:17:1201: Timer set to 1 minute…
12:16:17:1105: Start
12:16:17:1145: Start … 0%
12:16:17:1165: Create background 1 … 0%
12:16:21:5750: Create stamped PDF 1 … 12%

When I pause the program, turn off “Enable Just My Code” and then look at the “Parallel Stacks” window then I see that it is stuck on aQueue.ReleaseCom().
The stack of that thread shows:

  • Form1.ABgw_DoWork
  • Form1.CreateStampedPDF
  • Queue.ReleaseCom
  • [Lightweight Function]
  • QueueAdapter.ReleaseCom
  • PipeServermanager.ShutDown
  • PipeServer.Stop
  • PipeServer.ReleaseMutex
  • Dispatcher.LegacyInvakeImpl
  • DispatcherOperation.Wait
  • DispatcherOperationEvent.WaitOne
  • WaitHandle.WaitOne
  • WaitHandle.InternalWaitOne

I tried it on 2 different machines and it always freezes.

Any help is welcome.

Kind Regards,
Bart
